Organic Castor Oil For Skincare
Organic Castor Oil is very helpful for problematic skin. For example, applying Organic Castor Oil as a beauty mask can often help reduce the appearance and development of acne. It will also help moisturise dry skin.
However, depending on your skin type, Organic Castor Oil can sometimes have a drying effect on our skin.
Always perform a skin patch test before applying any oil or treatment liberally.
Organic Castor Oil For Hair
Organic Castor Oil can also be used as a rather indulgent hot oil hair treatment to revitalise your hair and re-moisturise it.
*Castor Oil is thought to support hair, eyelashes and eyebrow growth.
Making hot Organic Castor Oil hair treatment: Heat the Organic Castor Oil in a bain marie, or by placing it in a cup and then heating it up in a pan of boiling water, which has been taken away from the direct heat source.
Do not use a microwave as this destroys the nutrients in the oil.
You can add essential oils like Rosemary Essential Oil and Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, which are known for the health benefits they provide for hair.
When warm enough, simply work the heated Organic Castor Oil through your hair from root to tip. You can use a wide toothed comb or brush for this. Wrap in an old towel when fully applied.
Leave for an hour or even overnight. Shampoo after your treatment period has finished.
To stimulate hair growth: Massage the Organic Castor Oil directly into your scalp and comb it through, so that it coats your hair. Wrap in a towel. If possible, leave it on overnight, and wash it out in the morning.
Cautions & Contraindications
It is not necessary to drink Organic Castor Oil to deliver the benefits you need for your body. Some people recommend ingesting Organic Castor Oil to ease constipation. This is unnecessary, as castor oil packs are the best way of dealing with this issue.
Organic Castor Oil can potentially cause some serious digestive issues, so taking it internally is not recommended. It is certainly not advisable to take Organic Castor Oil internally unless under the supervision of a health professional.
Allergy Advice: May cause an allergic reaction, including, but not limited to: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc. If you experience a reaction, especially swelling of the face, tongue & throat, seek medical attention immediately.
External Application
If you have sensitive skin, or if you do a lot of sun bathing, there’s a very remote chance you may have a slight reaction to this Wild As The Wind oil.
It is always advisable to perform a patch test on the soft skin on the inside of your forearm before using carrier oils on your face.
Perform A Patch Test
Place a drop or two of Wild As The Wind oil on your inner forearm, making sure to massage it well into your skin.
A severe reaction will occur within ten minutes, but it may take 24 hours for milder intolerances to emerge.
Look for signs of Urticaria, (aka Hives), discolouration, redness, dryness, or feelings of irritation / itchiness.
If you experience none of these, you will be safe to use your Wild As The Wind oil elsewhere on your body, including your face.
Nevertheless, always avoid sensitive areas and inside your ears unless otherwise instructed by your health professional. This is especially important if you use your Wild As The Wind oil as a carrier oil for a number of Organic Essential Oils.
